Getting around the Lake

Transport around Lake Como is provided by buses and ferries, taxis and water taxis.

Buses

The C10 runs from Como all the way up the left side of the Lake and round as far as Colico on the Eastern side.
The C20 follows a ‘panoramic’ route between Como and Argegno.
The C30 runs from Como along the east side of the western branch to Bellagio.

Ferries

The ferry service runs regular services up and down the Lake, including a fast version that uses a more powerful boat, stops less often and costs extra.

A second service runs only between the mid lake sightseeing towns of Bellagio, Menaggio, Varenna and Cadenabbia and includes a number of car ferries.

Taxis

For taxis in Argegno and Menaggio, get in touch with:

Menaggio:  Diego +39 333 8601035

Water taxis and boat hire

In Argegno, you can hire a boat with captain for a tour of local villas, including those owned by Mr Clooney and Mr Versace: or; if you prefer, a trip to the island of Isola Comacina and its eccentric restaurant.

It’s also possible to hire a motor boat, without a license, and drive yourself  around the Lake. Boats can be hired from the Lido Di Lenno (for Villa Balbianello) for €50 per hour including petrol; and in Dongo (north of Menaggio) for €45 per hour plus petrol, with an extra charge for sun cover.
